ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE APPLICATION SUMMARY
WHAT IS THIS?
This is a 5-year Electrical Apprenticeship & Training Program for the Inside Wireman (we're the ones who wire buildings). If you are selected as an apprentice (see below) you would work full time (more or less) for an IBEW Union Electrical Contractor. The starting wage is approximately $17.82 with scheduled pay increases. You will also go to school 2 nights a week, either on Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays for 3 hours each night. School starts in September and completes in May each year.
When you have successfully completed the application process you will be scheduled for the next aptitude test. The aptitude test is a two-hour test; half on algebra, half on reading comprehension. You have to get a passing score on the Aptitude Test to go to the next stage.
Upon passing the Aptitude Test you will be scheduled for an interview after which you will be issued a ranking from O to 100. This ranking will determine your placement on the apprentice eligibility list. Apprentices are taken from the eligibility list starting with the highest score and working down the list, in order, as necessary. There is no guarantee of training or employment. You will remain on the eligibility list for a maximum of 2 years.
If you are offered an apprenticeship opportunity, you will be required to pass a drug screen and physical as scheduled by the JATC. Job assignments are contingent on completion of all post-selection, pre-employment requirements.
